"1 - Europe was late" -> also a cultural trait. People in the US and leading/growing regions in Asia simply tend to buy new "toys" much earlier. Europe doesn't work that way and it is usually pretty bad, when forced. Silicon Valley could have been located in Europe in an alternative reality, but people in Europe would have still not adapted to new technology faster than the US or Asia anyway.

All regulation has positive and negative sides. The regulation in the EU (not Europe) makes it impossible to achieve the same success, with the same means, as Tesla, for example, has achieved. There are too many rules for companies regarding their employees for such a "rocket" to happen in the EU. The advantage is that it is not the "little man" who fights for better conditions, but a united entity. The downside is that those who think it is great to be on board a "Tesla rocket" do not have the choice. Companies like Facebook and Google would also not be able to operate from the EU (not Europe) because there are too many regulations regarding privacy (data) (just look at the large fines they get from the EU, but do not pay). In the end, it is of course complicated, and which of the models one prefers (EU or US) is individual - they both have strengths and weaknesses.

I’m German so my favourite is always when the first thing that Americans want to casually chit chat with me about is WW2 (or WW1). Like what? That’s not really a casual fun conversation starter especially when you are talking to a stranger. Also they always talk like they are educating me about the topic when there is a 95% chance that I am better educated than them about the topic since the German education system takes it very very very serious (like you almost get beaten to death with it I swear), so unless they are some kind of WW2 fanatic (which is weird btw) then I probably know better. Not trying to sound convoluted. The other thing is treating and talking about Europe like it’s one homogeneous nation rather than a bunch of incredibly diverse countries. Or thinking that not knowing anything about any other country than America isn’t necessary because “America is like so big and so important and sure I don’t know the capital of Germany but do you know the capital of Nevada? I don’t think so.” As if knowing the capital of a state (which Germany has too just fyi) is somehow equivalent to knowing the capital of a freaking G9 country with 85mil citizens. There is in and of itself nothing wrong with not knowing things but boasting about it like being unaware of the world outside your own country is some kind of grand achievements is simply embarrassing

In Romania we had NO CAPITAL for 45 years (1945 - 1990). If you had CAPITAL you were going to prison. If you had Dollars you were probably to die in prison. If you had cooking oil, flour, meat for more than 1 month you were going to prison. If anyone from the 1st to 5th echelon (meaning little party activists to government members) had anything against you, you were automatically found guilty for a made up cause and prison.

The worst problem of the European Union is that germany was chosen in advance to lead other countries (I think it was the American system that decided this, there is a reason why you have such a strong sentiment towards them). A country that historically absolutely doesn`t deserve such a chance because their actions always end with achieving the greatest possible profit for themselves and not other member states, especially those on the right side of the map, smaller ones. The EU, which was created to deal primarily with trade and equalize economic opportunities within Europe... is nothing more than a german sandbox for far-left politicians who, without hesitation, prefer to cooperate with Russia or China rather than America.

I must disagree. I’ve seen countries like Poland go for a communist backwater to one of the safest and best countries in Europe. In the same 30 years period. NOTHING and I mean nothing has changed in America.

As someone who works in the automotive industry, American driving/roads terrify me. Not only do you have the bare minimum for pedestrians but you also have massive cars with no pedestrian safety considerations factored into their design. A somewhat extreme but on trend example of this is the Cybertruck. They will never appear in Europe as they might aswell have been designed to kill people on foot with a solid, high body covered in sharp edges that will obliterate a human body even at low speeds. Hell I wouldn't even want to be in a highly safety rated European or Asian vehicle that gets hit by one. Then you add the human factors such as children having licenses (obviously in certain states) and America's lack luster drink driving laws and respective punishments and it seems to more of a case of 'not if, but when' are you going to get into a serious incident! In this particular instance I really don't understand what's so hard about installing a footbridge or an underpass? No body wants to get killed going to the beach or be responsible for someone death on their way to work, surely it can't be that hard to check down the back of the sofa for some loose change to complete a basic safety project that will save lives?

We need to stop being an American warproxy and make peace on the continent.

In Poland we dont learn about civil war, and your history. Why? You are far away, and we dont care about your history, your politic, blm, "woke americans" etc. We just dont care. For most of polish, USA is like "big circus" with your "race war", blm, feminist and all of this shit. We hear about this occasionally, but we dont care, its yours problems.
